River Queue

Deceptive Waiting or Social Perfectionism? This title is built upon two main concepts, “deceptive waiting” and “social perfectionism.” The painting portrays a group of individuals waiting in a long queue to access river water, even though they could easily access the same water without any cost or time investment. This concept illustrates the idea of deceptive waiting, wherein individuals engage in a queue and anticipation that they actually do not need, possibly influenced by advertisements or unnecessary persuasions. Simultaneously, the concept of social perfectionism is also prevalent in this title. It refers to behavioral and societal patterns that exist within a community. Individuals may stand in the queue and observe others merely to uphold an image or a sense of pride as individuals who have achieved a great feat, without actually needing to do so in reality. This painting raises questions for its viewers: Do these expectations and behavioral patterns truly serve us, or are they merely unnecessary social engagements?
